What is a Dietitian?
Dietitian's are the only nutrition professionals to be regulated by the law, and who have attained the mandatory qualifications to provide individualised dietary advice for medical conditions. Dietitians undergo extensive training alongside doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to enable them to provide evidence-based advice.
Dietitian's are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), governed by an ethical code and audited regularly to ensure they work to the highest standards. The HCPC has an obligation to protect the public, only those who meet the standards set by the statutory regulator can use the protected title ‘Dietitian’ and are published on the HCPC register.
