Junah Begum
Muslim Health & Wellness Coach / Personal Trainer
Hi, and peace to all! I’m Junah (also known as Jay). Im a Muslim Health & Wellness Coach/Personal Trainer with a degree in Islamic theology and jurisprudence. In addition to this as a Qualified Driving Instructor I also teach people how to drive and be safer on the roads. I’m passionate about empowering women through mindfulness, movement, and community. My journey has been shaped by struggles with depression, body dysmorphia, postnatal challenges, and past traumas. I’ve always loved running, excelling in cross country at school, to running 5k & 10k charity runs, using fitness as a source of strength.
Before my fitness journey, I worked in youth work, teaching Islamic studies, counselling. I designed and launched my own modest clothing line. I also ran a bakery and catering business, where I found joy in creating nourishing, homemade food that brought people together. Later, I turned to abstract art as a way to manage anxiety and express myself creatively.
I then Launched the ‘Sunnah Fitness’ programme to help women spiritually, mentally & physically. I offer one on one personal training at a ladies only gym and lead fitness classes. At New Beginnings, I run Health & Hijabs and Teens' Health & Hijabs, creating a safe space for Muslim women to embrace fitness. As co-founder of ‘Your Wellbeing’ I focus on keeping the BAME community active by organising inclusive activities for all ages.
With the addition of a health and nutrition qualification to my personal training, I can combine the two to help bring out the best in your fitness journey. Whether it’s through movement, nutrition, or mindset, I provide a holistic approach to wellbeing that empowers women to take control of their health.
After moving from Manchester, I faced challenges as a visibly Muslim woman wearing the veil, which led me to work out at home and rediscover my strength. My journey, from training at ‘New Beginning’s’ to now following my passion as a qualified Personal Trainer, Health & Wellness Coach fuels my mission to support others.
My goal is to help women navigate postnatal struggles, overcome unhealthy relationships with food, and build confidence through movement. I believe faith, fitness, and holistic wellbeing go hand in hand. I aspire to inspire others to nurture their bodies and minds, focusing on how they feel, not just how they look.
No matter your background, all are welcome in our classes, a space to grow stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually.
You matter. Let’s get stronger together! 🫶🏼
