Supporting Confidence, Strength, and Wellbeing for Teenage Girls
STRONG HER is a 12-month, fully funded programme designed for girls aged 11–17 in Scunthorpe. The programme provides a safe, supportive space where girls can build physical strength, confidence, and emotional wellbeing through structured fitness, mentoring, and education.
STRONG HER recognises the unique challenges teenage girls face, including body image pressures, low confidence, anxiety, school stress, and reduced participation in physical activity during adolescence.

About STRONG HER
STRONG HER is a prevention-focused programme supporting girls aged 11–17 who may be disengaged from sport, struggling with confidence, or experiencing challenges around mental wellbeing.
The programme combines gym-based training, group discussion, and mentoring, helping girls feel strong, capable, and supported—both physically and emotionally.
Delivered by experienced female coaches, STRONG HER creates a safe, inclusive, and judgement-free environmentwhere girls can grow at their own pace.
Programme Structure & Weekly Sessions
STRONG HER runs twice weekly, combining high-energy physical activity with empowerment workshops and supportive mentoring.
Monday 3:45 – 5:00 pm | 75 Minutes: Boxercise & Empowerment Workshop
High-energy pad work, partner drills, footwork, and aerobic conditioning are combined with empowerment-focused workshops and group discussions. These sessions support physical fitness, confidence building, stress release, and emotional regulation.
Key workshop themes include:
Confidence and self-esteem
Building positive friendships
Body image, social media pressures, and self-worth
Emotional regulation and coping with stress
Staying safe, recognising warning signs, and exploitation awareness
Managing conflict, peer pressure, and girl-on-girl drama
Healthy boundaries, relationships, identity, and aspirations
Sessions blend structured physical activity with a safe space for conversation, reflection, and positive female role modelling.
Wednesday 3:45 – 4:30 pm | 45 Minutes: Strength & Conditioning (Gym-Based)
A progressive gym programme focused on building physical strength, body confidence, and resilience.
Activities include:
Dumbbells, resistance machines, and sled work
Bodyweight circuits
Core strength, balance, and mobility
Team challenges and partner-based support
Technique development and safe training routines
Girls learn how to use the gym safely, set personal goals, track progress, and build sustainable healthy habits. Older participants are supported to take on mini leadership roles, helping to build responsibility, confidence, and positive peer influence.

Girls aged 11–17
All fitness levels – no gym experience required
Girls who may feel anxious, lack confidence, or avoid traditional sports
